Mr. Hiscock also discusses different types of boats, and how the engine changed the design of boats. He talks about the merchants operating in the area, and how unemployment insurance regulations disallow men from building boats.

Biographical DataFred P. Hiscock was born February 14, 1915 in Winterton, Trinity Bay, Newfoundland. He lived in Winterton all his life where he worked as a fisher. Mr. Hiscock did, however, spend some years working seasonally in the town of Buchans for the American Smelting and Refining Company (ASARCO).
