Workshop group on Socio-economic affairs: Ray Hawco, facilitator; discussion of issues: changes in values and in attitudes/lifestyle; including changes in the attitude toward and interaction with institutions of authority, including the government; importance of education and the need to identify potential; growing self-awareness and awareness of dependency; growing momentum of the rural and community development movements; the necessity for realistic and appropriate development. -- Workshop group on Culture: Ken Pittman reporter; key points: the need to move away from viewing culture as elitist, and to see it as a diversified, dynamic entity that is interwoven with and emanates from the living community. Anthropology, archaeology, ethnology and the arts are all aspects of culture in community life. Education, communication, economics and employment all impact cultural development.
