The
model
is
a
Nova
Scotian
row
dory
,
Shelburne
type
, and
is
patterned
after
the
dories
which
were
built
in the
factories
of
John
Ethrington
of
Shelburne
,
N.S.
At
one
time
five
separate
dories
factories
were in
operation
in that
Nova
Scotian
town.
The
last
one
was
phased
out
in
1973.
This
dory
,
once
so
popular
with
Newfoundlanders
,
is
no
longer
being
built.
As the
Shelburne
dory
is
derived
from the
Lowell
American
dory
, they are
very
similar
in
appearance
however
there are
differences
between
the
two
types
in the
rake
,
flare
and
sheer.
Exterior:
yellow.
Interior:
yellow
with
green
trim.
Colour
on the

reproduction
varies.
