DescriptionOne sheet of white paper, 22 x 28 cm. Title of poem is printed in upper case Oxford, in blue; immediately beneath this is a subtitle in lower case consisting of a quotation from Kipling's poem 'The White Man's Burden', in black. Poem is printed in black. Between the subtitle and the poem is a heraldic dragon statant, in red. At the base of the poem is: 'RICHARD OUTRAM', uppercase italics, in black. On the reverse are printed two excerpts from books. The first is from Colin Simpson, LUSITANIA, London, 1972; the second from the HMSO publication Manual of Seamanship Vol 1 B.R. 67 (i/51) London, 1951. At the top of the page, a sailing-vessel ornament is repeated five times, in red, in increasing sizes from left to right. Between the two quotations, the identical ornament is repeated five times in a uniform size, in relief (white with a thin black outline). At the bottom of the page, the identical ornament is repeated five times, in blue, in decreasing sizes from left to right. Both the dragon ornament and the sailing-ship ornament are from the font 'Woodcut Ornaments'.
