Victorian
Triumph
(1898)
is
the
second
volume
of
poetry
by
Isabella
Whiteford.
Since
the
publication
of her
first
volume
entitled
Poems
(1860)
, she had
become
a
well-known
literary
figure
in the
colony
,
marrying
James
Johnstone
Rogerson
in
1879.
Victorian
Triumph
contains
101
poems
which
,
like
her
previous
collection
,
focus
on
such
topics
as
nature
, the
passage
of
time
,
historical
and
local
community
events
, and
religious
themes.
Many
poems
draw
on her
philanthropical
work
,
which
she
shared
with her
husband
as an
active
member
of the
Methodist
Church.
