Description	"Newfoundlanders are a singing people. Music is an integral part of their way of life. The Songs of the province express the spontaneous humor, unaffected gaiety, deep-felt pride of place and accomplishment and unmatched vigor of a fiercely independent people [...] This album is a re-issue of a recording made over a decade ago to embody the underlying motive and spirit of the province's Come Home Year, 1966. Intended as a sincere tribute to the people and the songs and music of Newfoundland and Labrador, it was performed by the St. John's Extension Choir of 80 male and female voices under the sponsorship of Memorial University of Newfoundland and directed by Ignatius A.
