DescriptionCentenary issue. -- Being from St. John's, William Cormack decided in 1822 to become better acquainted with Newfoundland's interior by walking across the island. While on his journey, he noted the rocks, minerals, flora, and fauna he encountered; those notes were then published in the Edinburgh Philosophical Journal in 1824. This Centenary issue was created for use in Newfoundland schools at the request of the education authorities of Newfoundland.
