DescriptionPublished by Durgin's mother after his death, this series of letters by George Francis Durgin contain a vivid description of the people of Labrador, the land, and his experiences while there in 1903-1904. Durgin had long wanted to visit Newfoundland to enjoy what he called a "sportsman's paradise", and did so on several occasions. Dismayed to find others had now begun to realize the beauty and sport the island offered, and were beginning to visit in larger numbers, Durgin decided to travel to Labrador to once again experience those same pleasures without having to share them with other travelers.
