AbstractThis book documents the author's travels through Lebanon, Greece, and Syria. Some historical accounts of these areas are included, as well as topographical and geographical information, and some commentary on the culture of the inhabitants. Several chapters are devoted to the Druze population in Lebanon and their practices and culture, as well as the Cedars of Lebanon. Most of the information in these books is centred around the city of Damascus and its history, such as the spread of Christianity, the rule of the Turks, and the Muslim dynasties. Chapters include information on the ancient city walls, the slave markets of Damascus, and the river Jordan. Several illustrations are also included.
