International Grenfell Association Lantern Slides Collection
Scope and Content: The collection includes 23 hand-coloured and 36 black and white lantern slides, mostly of the northern peninsula, Newfoundland, Labrador and of Quebec. The images show Dr. Grenfell's work in St. Anthony and Conche in Newfoundland, Battle Harbour and Indian Harbour in Labrador and Harrington Harbour in Quebec. All of the images have been described at the item level on the MHA photograph catalogue.
Dates: ca. 1900-1920
Adm. Hist/Bio. Sketch: The photographer and/or owner of the lantern slides is unknown. Many of the slides are numbered sequentially and were probably used as part of a slide show for the Grenfell Mission's fundraising efforts.
