1.		St. Pierre French Dory	Ship models; Fishing boats; Dories (Boats)	This is the model of a St. Pierre French Type row dory and is patterned after the dories which were built in the factory of Monsieur Dranier who built hundreds of dories for the fishermen of St. Pierre et Miquelon and Newfoundland. This smart looking dory is no longer being built. It should be understood that French row dory of yesteryear was not so crooked in the sheer as the motor flats, erroneously called dories by many people seen in St. Pierre today. As the sterns of these craft do not form a complete “V” but were several inches wide where they join the bottoms, they are not true dories. “Flats” is their correct classification. 2.		Newfoundland Grand Bank Dory	Ship models; Fishing boats; Dories (Boats)	This model of a Newfoundland row-dory is patterned after the dories which were built by Stephen Grandy and his three sons of Grand Bank. The Grandys' built approximately three thousand dories to supply both the banks and shore fishermen. This fine dory is being built today only on order. Exterior: grey. Interior: grey with green trim. 3.		Newfoundland Monkstown Dory	Ship models; Fishing boats; Dories (Boats)	This is the model of the Newfoundland row dory and is patterned after the dories which were designed and perfected by the brothers John and Henry Monk of Monkstown, Placentia Bay. This dory was often mistaken for the Lunenburg dory owing to the fact that like the Nova Scotian dory she did not have rubbers or rubbing streaks outside her gunwales. There were differences however between the two in rake, flare and sheer and while the “Lunenburger” carried a raised gunwhale forward, the “Monk” did not. Placentia Bay fishermen claimed that no other type dory was superior to the “Monk” for general seaworthyness. Exterior: yellow with green bottom. Interior: yellow with green and blue trim.

4.		Nova Scotian Dory 1	Ship models; Fishing boats; Dories (Boats)	The model is a Nova Scotian row dory, Shelburne type, and is patterned after the dories which were built in the factories of John Ethrington of Shelburne, N.S. At one time five separate dories factories were in operation in that Nova Scotian town. The last one was phased out in 1973. This dory, once so popular with Newfoundlanders, is no longer being built. As the Shelburne dory is derived from the Lowell American dory, they are very similar in appearance however there are differences between the two types in the rake, flare and sheer. Exterior: yellow. 5.		Nova Scotian Dory 2	Ship models; Fishing boats; Dories (Boats)	This model is a Nova Scotian row dory and is patterned after the dories built in the factory of Robert Cransh of Lunenburg. This factory has changed ownership several times but the dories turned out there never seem to alter in style. Nfld’s Banks fishing Skippers were loud in their praise of the Lunenburg dory, rating her as an excellent sea-boat and a very fine carrier. She is being built today only on order. Exterior: yellow. Interior: yellow with green and blue trim. Has 4 oars.

6.		Single Man Dory	Ship models; Fishing boats; Dories (Boats)	This is the model of a Portuguese crosshanded or single man row dory. The measurements for the model were taken from a dory nested on the deck of the Portuguese banker “Ignacia Cuna.” As Portuguese fishermen have recently become engaged in a more sophisticated type of fishing a different type of boat is being used; consequently the handsome and reliable little row dory can no longer be seen on the decks of Portuguese fishing vessels. 7.		American Dory	Ship models; Fishing boats; Dories (Boats)	This model is of an American row dory and is patterned after the dories which were built in the factory of Hiram Lowell and Sons, Amesbury, Mass., U.S.A. between the years of 1880 and 1920 when salt banking reached its peak. The Lowell factory turned out between three and four thousand dories per year. This sprightly little dory is no longer being built. Exterior: yellow with red trim. Interior: yellow with green trim. 8.		Flat	Ship models; Fishing boats; Skiffs	This is the model of a boat that is called a flat by Newfoundlanders. In Nova Scotia and New England this type is classed a skiff. On Newfoundland’s south coast these craft were usually made by sawing off aft of the after midshiproom timber, an old row dory that had been condemned for fishing. Any repairs that may be needed were effected and a broad stern was fitted and fastened in. This handy little boat was used by motor dory fishermen as a means to convey them to and from the larger dory anchored offshore. The flat was often used by women to row their children across some harbour, inlet, pond or barachois on a picnic or a berry picking excursion. The flat could appear in any colour from white through to black. Colour: green exterior with brown trim. Colour on the digital reproduction varies.
