Located in Ocean Pond, this well has been on the property since the 1939's, and was dug by the grandfather of the previous owner. It is a circular, rock lined well with no mortar or sealant within the rocks. The diameter of the well is 32.5". The well is surrounded by a concrete base at the top, which measures 56.9"x 71".

The well is in the reared of the cleared property near the top of a hill, approximately 94 paces from the main road. A wood and tar paper section of roof from the original cabin (now removed) is currently being used for a cover to the well.

 Cahill property outdoor well interior zoom Water Sources; Water Springs; A photo of the Cahill property well. Th water was incredibly clear, and the plumb bob could be seen all the way to the bottom. The base of the well was soft, and is assumed to be packed dirt and earth, and not stone.

The cement lining surrounding the exterior extends 5" from the ground. The top of the well sits flush with ground level.

 Chaulk-Murray, Exterior, Mount Pearl Architecture, building and construction; Buildings; Outbuildings; Root cellars; This is a shed style with a cellar underground in the concrete block foundation. There is no hatch entrance; however there is a set of concrete stairs in the front, right corner of the shed that leads down to the cellar. Cellar was built by Hilda and her husband Murdo in 1965, including digging the hole by hand. It was used to store vegetables and the shed portion has always been used to store miscellaneous garden supplies. Today the cellar is used off and on for vegetable storage as well as storage of flower pots and planting materials. It has electricity and is approximately 3m x 4m.
