This one was donated with Barnes engine but these coils were universal. The coils are one of the most difficult items to locate for make and break owners and some have resorted to making their own!

It appears to be a later model battery as it is all one piece (before this type of battery, a number of batteries, typically 4 or 6, would be connected in a circuit to provide the right charge).

The prop shaft would be bolted down first (it connects with the round piece of metal near the back) and then the engine would be bolted down. This is done to ensure that the proper alignment is used. It is easier to adjust the prop shaft with shimmies when the engine is free to move.

The boat is currently undergoing repairs and the engine was taken out to be cleaned up during this time.
