Host John Doyle presents examples of films about St. John's, Newfoundland. Included are: Michael Jones's film "Morning"(1977); "St. John's Film" made in the 1970's, with short interviews with various people in the city; a film by photographer Justin Hall entitled "On Rooftops"; a section of the film "East End Story" featuring the downtown war memorial and a ballad by Ron Hynes; "You know you're downtown" about the police officer who directs traffic on Prescott Street; and a short vignette, "The Hotel", documenting the demolition of the old Hotel Newfoundland and its reconstruction.

And now for something completely NIFCO - 04. The Pope Trilogy
Host John Doyle introduces three short films created by two brothers, Paul and Dave Pope.The films are loosely connected into a trilogy by association with the resettled community of Stone's Cove, on the South Coast of Newfoundland, the ancestral home of the Pope family. The ffirst film, Offstage Line, is shot in black and white, using a single actor and with no spoken dialogue. The second, Slipway, also black and white, makes greater use of visual imagery and is structured thematically. The third, Stone's Cove, combines historical images of Stone's Cove and its people as a thriving community with footage of the ruined vestiges left after resettlement.
