Bankers Cutting Bnit and then Leaving for the Fishing Ciroiuids—American Schooners Arriving Every Day. Special to the Evening Telegram. Bay L'Abgest, April 11. Herrings have struck in at last at Long Harbor and Conne River; but none at Rencontre and Bay-de-North. We want a change of wind. All the Grand Bank and Fortune Bankers have baited. American schooners are arriving every day for bait. No bait has been carried to St. Pierre yet. People are hanging on till the eighteenth. The lobster factories are all ready. Wind cast. Most of the banker? arc gone to the Gulf. NEWS FROM THE GULF. Meat Cove, C.8., This Afternoon. There is now no ice east of St. Paul's. Here it is heavy and closely packed, but light and open at the Mfagdalens and moving cast. No vessels. A Terrible Crime Unearthed— Dominion Parliament Adjourned.Halifax, N.S., April 13. A man and woman have been arrested for murder. The dead bodies of several iufants have been found In the river Thames. All the bodies were weighed down with bricks. The Dominion Parliament adjourned Saturday at midnight, after a continuous session of 129 hours. The remedial bill made but little progress. (Special to the Evening Telegram.) Cape Kace, This Afternoon. The steamers Newfoundlandand Ulunda passed west, the former at 6.30, the latter at 11 a.m.,and the barqt. Corisaitde went iuward at :{ p. no. yesterday. The S. >S. Lord Lansdowne went cast at 7..'J0 a.m. to-day. Wind west, light, line and clear. Bar. 2i).OQ; ther. HO. S.S "PORTIA" ARRIVES. The S.S. Portia, from Xew York and Halifax, arrived here at ;*.45 o'clock this afternoon, via Bay Bulls, where she put in this forenoon to report ice and orders. Capt. Farrell has the ship decorated with booting, the Governor's daughters beini; on board. There is full cargo—oil on deck. Twenty-eight bags and one basket °f mail matter. Saloon passengers are •Messrs. lvter Saunders, Graham Fraser (Bell Isle man), and 11. Blatoli: Mrs. Farrell and Misses Murray r2s and Eva Karlo. Two steerage passengers. SPOON COVE METHODIST BAND OF HOPE. The members «f the above gave an en" tertainnient on Wednesday, April l3t. The chair was taken by Mr. Jacob Street, readings, &c., were well giveu by the followiug:—Miss Garland (school mistress), Mrs. Albert Goddard. A man and woman have been arrested for murder. The dead bodies of several iufants have been found In the river Thames. All the bodies were weighed down with bricks.
