GRAND DANCING ASSEMBLY. -*. . Most Enjoyable Sapper. ♦ (Special to the "Evening Telegram."; Harkor Grace, Last Night. Last evening a grand dancing assembly was held in the Masonic Hall, under the management of Professor Danielle, who, by his double course of lessons, has enabled us to spend many an enjoyable evening during the past winter. The assembly was extremely well patronized by both dancers and spectators. The floor was occupied by upwards of forty couples, and all proved themselves equal to the occasion. A Metropolitan Friend was recently heard to remark that " Harbor Grace was dead ;" but had our friend been present last evening he would have inferred from our gathering that We Are All Alive and in no small measure capable of enjoying ourselves. Oar bay ladies are socond to none for sociability and agrecableness, and all seemed to have done their utmost to make the evening a pleasant one. Master Wm. Kennedy presided at the piano, and with such effect that even the old stagers could not resist the temptation of joining in at eleven o'clock. The party adjourned to the British Hall underneath, where a good supper was plentifully and tastefully furnished. After doing ample justice to the good things there, the dancing was resumed and continued until 2 a.m. >-•••"« KING'S COVE ♦ Congratulates Captain Blaiirfl *. AND THE GOVERNMENT. ♦ (Special to the ll Evening Telegram.") King's Cove, This Afternoon. The account of the arrival of the S.S. Neptune from the seal fishery was received with much pleasure here to-day. We congratulate Captain Blandford, the popular representative of the district. Several of our " bone and sinew " were in the Neptune, and it is pleasing to know that their services are amply rewarded. We also take the opportunity of congratulating the Whiteway Government on the noble stand they took in the modus vivendi case, and are assured that, to protect the interest of our Island home, they are the right men in the right place. No thumping or sneezing here by the Thorburnites since the sixth of November. Morine's lamps are still unlighted on the unpainted posts. The observance of this striking solemnity is said to be on account of the sudden demise of a Government *>f " sound commercial principles." >-•••-< TWILLINGATE MOURNS. Dr. Stirling, who had been suffering ail winter with dropsy, died last night at ten o'clock. His death casts a gloom over the town, and this morning Hags are half-mast high in every direction. The funeral takes place on Sunday afternoon. To-day the wind is S.S.W., and the bay clear. No seals have been taken here by Blioremen this Spring. >—•••-< Halifax, N.S., April 11. Mr. Woods. I wonder if these gentlemen have allowed their names to be used in this connection, or is this another attempt on the part of the hireling to damage character? GRAND DANCING ASSEMBLY. -*. . Most Enjoyable Sapper. ♦ (Special to the "Evening Telegram."; Harkor Grace, Last Night. Last evening a grand dancing assembly was held in the Masonic Hall, under the management of Professor Danielle, who, by his double course of lessons, has enabled us to spend many an enjoyable evening during the past winter. The assembly was extremely well patronized by both dancers and spectators. The floor was occupied by upwards of forty couples, and all proved themselves equal to the occasion. A Metropolitan Friend was recently heard to remark that " Harbor Grace was dead ;" but had our friend been present last evening he would have inferred from our gathering that We Are All Alive and in no small measure capable of enjoying ourselves. Oar bay ladies are socond to none for sociability and agrecableness, and all seemed to have done their utmost to make the evening a pleasant one. Master Wm. Kennedy presided at the piano, and with such effect that even the old stagers could not resist the temptation of joining in at eleven o'clock. The party adjourned to the British Hall underneath, where a good supper was plentifully and tastefully furnished. After doing ample justice to the good things there, the dancing was resumed and continued until 2 a.m. >-•••"« KING'S COVE ♦ Congratulates Captain Blaiirfl *. AND THE GOVERNMENT. ♦ (Special to the ll Evening Telegram.") King's Cove, This Afternoon. The account of the arrival of the S.S. Neptune from the seal fishery was received with much pleasure here to-day. We congratulate Captain Blandford, the popular representative of the district. Several of our " bone and sinew " were in the Neptune, and it is pleasing to know that their services are amply rewarded. We also take the opportunity of congratulating the Whiteway Government on the noble stand they took in the modus vivendi case, and are assured that, to protect the interest of our Island home, they are the right men in the right place. No thumping or sneezing here by the Thorburnites since the sixth of November. Morine's lamps are still unlighted on the unpainted posts. The observance of this striking solemnity is said to be on account of the sudden demise of a Government *>f " sound commercial principles." >-•••-< TWILLINGATE MOURNS.
