A lively debate has taken place in the British House of Commons on a resolution renaai*ing the increased expenditure of the Government. Adjourned till Momlaj. The Parliament of British Columbia threatens secession from Canada. THE ZULU WAR! Cape Town (ma St. Vincent), March 25. > A convoy of supplies proceeding from Derby to Lnneherg, escorted by 104 men of the 80th Regiment, was attacked by 4,000 Zulus, under the Chief Umbeleni, on the banks of the river Intomba, at da\break on March 5. Owing to a previous alarm, the men were under arms, bnt were overwhelmed by the enormously superior force of the enemy. Captain David D. Moriarty, of the fcOth Regiment, and 40 men were killed and 20 more are reported as missing. Lieutenant liar wood with 40 men succeeded in making their way to iLuneberg. Major Tucker with 150 men of the 80th subsequently proceeded to the scene of the fighting, and recovered the rockets, one gun, and tlie ammunition, aud also buried the dead. 30 waggon. containing supplies were lost The Ekowe relief column sets out to-morrow, March 20th. Majofeßltek with %7 volunteer*, has visited the scene of the late battle at Isandula, and recovered some private and regimental papers. One hundred waggons have been left on the battle-field by the Zulus, but the guns and ammunition have been removed. The great, meeting of Beora has commenced. The proceed* i iugs have up to the present been quietly conduct* cd. The Iranaporla City of Paris, City of Venice, Lady Margaret, Olympus, and China, with the reinforcements from England, have arrived here. A large and enthusiastic meeting was held in Cape Town yesterday, when resolutions were adopted endorsing the policy of the High Commissioner, and thanking the Home Hovermeut for so promptly despatching reinforcements. The following telegram has been received at the WarOlHce from Lord Chelmsford through tho Acting-Governor of the Cape:—" Regret to report that a part) of the 80th Regiment, numbering 70 of all ranks, sent out from Luneberg to escort IS waggons, coming from Derby, were overpowered when in laager at the Intombi River by a force of Zulus estimated at 4,000 on the morning of the 12th March. Forty one known to be killed, amongst whom were Capt. Moriarity aud Civil-Surgeon Cobbin, and 20 were missing when the report was sent off. The detachment had been detained three days at river in consequence of its being impassable, which no doubt gave Umbeleni, the commander of the attacking force, time to arrange his plans.
