The annual meeting of Dalton Council,'No. 1418, Knights of Columbus, was beld iu the Council room on Sunday last, and was largely attended The different reporta showed the Council to be in a very strong position, both financially and numerically, while the social life of the Council hss been kept up to its usual high standard. Kenneth Courage, 40, of 59 Paris St , was drowned in Island Creek, near the coke works, South Everett, Sunday night. His body was found lying near one of the gas mains on the Chelsea Side of the creek, Sergt. Donohue, with patrolmen Hall and McNeil, who were dispatched by Lieut. Richardson, recovered tbe body. City physician Joseph C Henken was summoned and pronounced the man dead. Courage waa employed as a coke trimmer by the New Eagland Coal and Coke Company. Funeral services will be held in the chapel of J. E. Header- H. Davis, pastor of ibe First Methodist Church wil! officiate. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery. Courage was a native of Newfoundland. His brotb-r, Ambrose, lives art 59 Paris St.—B ston Paper. Tbe late Mr. Courage was tbe son of the late Mr. Eloll Courage of this towa and bad been away from the couatry the past 20 years or so. Some sixty porpoises wcie driven ashore by the fishermen at St. Joseph's on Monday. The men sighted tbe creatures and drove tbem into thc harbor wbere tbey ran ashore. Tbey will be taken to New Barbor, T. B. for manufacture and the fishermen expect to reap a profitable return. Tbe Bisbop Feild College opened on Tuesday morniog in tbe gymnasium in the new building with the Bisbop of Newfoundland and many of tbe directors present. His Excellency tbe Administrator and Lady Horwood graced the opening with their presence. Headmaster R. R. Wood made a short report on the work of the students of the coll-' c In the last C. H. E. examination*. Tbe pupils showed a marked improvement over previous years.
