AbstractThis book is a documentation of the author's travels throughout much of the Levant during the early 19th century. Chapters describe several different monasteries, such as the White Monastery, the Monastery of St. Sabba, Mount Athos, and the monasteries at Meteora. Each of these chapters contains structural information, discussion on the history of the monastery, geographical information, and superstitions based around the monastery. Several illustrations are included in this text.
