| Abstract | This book is a geological research text discussing changes in the earth's crust, metamorphic and aqueas rocks, and mineral and limestone deposits around the world, in order to understand ancient changes in the earth. Chapters discuss the movement of fossil rocks in strata, the chronological classification of rocks, geology in the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods, mineral veins, and the different ages of metamorphic rock. Discussion on tectonic plates and continental drift is also included in this book, as well as the importance of these factors to sea-life and forms of shellfish. Several chapters deal specifically with fossilised remains unearthed in regions that are now underwater, for example a mastodon skull found by Mr. Wigham of Norwich. Several illustrations and charts accompany this text. |
