Country contentments, or, The husbandmans recreations : contayning the wholesome experiences in which any man ought to recreate himself, after the toyle of more serious business ; as namely hunting, hawking, coursing with greyhounds, and the lawes of the lease, shooting in longbow or crossbow, bowling, tennis, baloone ; the whole art of angling, and the use of the fighting cock
'Country Contentments' discusses recreational activities popular in Britain during the 17th century. Sports such as hawking, hunting, and coursing with greyhounds are included, as well as a large section on cocking. The use of a crossbow or longbow in hunting is also described, as well as angling and tennis. Chapters include discussions on regions in which hunting or angling is most fruitful, as well as preparation for each of these sports.

Some chapters also contain information on religion, as this book was written from a predominantly Catholic perspective.

This book describes excavations on the island of Cyprus during the years 1894, 1895 and 1896. The sites chosen for the three excavations were Amanthus in 1894, Curium in 1895 and Enkomi in 1896. Illustrations of the artifacts discovered, including various pieces of artwork and decorative vases, are also included, along with explanatory notes. There are a number of maps of the excavation sites, as well as an index of all materials that were found.
