161.	The book of Newfoundland	These volumes are a history of Newfoundland, including much information on Newfoundland after Confederation. Large sections deal with the fishing industry in the province, and several photographs of small fishing villages are included. There are lists of the members of government in Newfoundland before Confederation, such as the prime ministers, governors, and executive councils. Other chapters deal with the signing of the new constitution in 1934, the geography of Newfoundland, statistics, and Newfoundland's part in World War I. The second volume includes information on St. John's, the police and firefighters, several different clubs found in Newfoundland, sports such as football, ice hockey, and boxing, and the different religions found in Newfoundland. Many illustrations and photographs are included.

162.	The blue-china book : early American scenes and history pictured in the pottery of the time, with a supplementary chapter describing the celebrated collection of presidential china in the White House at Washington, D.C., and a complete checking list of known examples of anglo-American pottery	This book describes handmade pottery created in the United States. Several chapters also deal with the histories of several American cities, such as Boston, New York, and Washington. Another section of the book includes discussion of American nation builders and their work, such as George Washington, General Lafayette and Benjamin Franklin. The third section deals with the White House collection of presidential china, lists of American views found on pottery, and auction prices of blue china. A number of illustrations are included with this text.

163.	The black phalanx : a history of the Negro soldiers of the United States in the war of 1775-1812, 1861-'65	This book documents the importance of black soldiers in both the American Revolutionary War and the American Civil War. Chapters include information on racial segregation in the military, biographical information on several black officers, the use of black soldiers in the Battle of New Orleans, and the re-enslavement of black soldiers after the American Revolution. The Civil War is also discussed at length, with descriptions of battles at Nashville, South Carolina, and Tennessee, all of which involved black troop regiments. Some information is given on Jefferson Davies, the leader of the Southern States during the Civil War, as well as several examples of his thoughts on the use of black soldiers. Information is presented on how these groups came to be organised, as well as how education was provided for black soldiers after the war.

164. This is a bibliographic record of the Greek and Roman classics. Authors include Aesop, Achilles, Erasmus, Julian, and Valerius. Some information on the Roman republic is included, as well as some examples of the ancient Persian alphabet. Some prayer examples from early cultures are also included in this text

165.	The Beothucks, or Red Indians : the aboriginal inhabitants of Newfoundland	This book is a history of the Beothuk Indians in Newfoundland, as well as a description of their interactions with European settlers. Chapters include John Cabot's voyage in the 15th century, Jacques Cartier's encounters with the Beothuks in the 16th century, and writings taken from various new sources. Other sections detail the Beothuk manner of living, the country they inhabited, and some examples of the language they spoke. There is also much information on the life of Shanawdithit, the last remaining Beothuk. Several of her drawings are included in this book. Several examples of Beothuk song and poetry can be found in this text as well.

166.	The barren ground of northern Canada	This book is an account of Mr. Warburton Pike's journey throughout Northern Canada. Chapters include information on the Eskimo Indians, caribou hunting, fishing, and the so-called 'barren ground' of the North - the tundra. Much discussion is included on the Eskimo way of life, their social customs, religion, and interaction with French and English travellers. The hunting of buffalo as a way of life is also described by the author, including a section in which he and several Indians go on a hunt. Some information on the Esquimeaux Indians is also included. There is a sketch map of Mr. Pike's journey, and a map of the Dominion of Canada.

167.	The bantams down-to-date : a detailed description of the colors, types, standard points and weights of all the exhibition bantams - how to mate for the production of all breeds and varieties of game and variety bantams - inbreeding, double mating, the founding of strains and the creation of new species- housing, feeding, hatching - fitting for exhibition and general management - simplified doctoring of sick bantams	This book is a description of how to keep and breed Bantam chickens. Chapters include information on the different strains, modern game Bantams, drose-combed Bantams, as well as roosting homes and shelters. The correct feed for adult Bantam chickens is also discussed, along with incubating and hatching eggs. Care of chicks is also discussed, such as the proper care during the first 48 hours, and ideal treatment. Training and grooming show birds is another aspect of breeding that is examined in this text.

168.	The autobiography of Theophilus Waldmeier, missionary : being an account of ten years' life in Abyssinia ; and sixteen years in Syria	This book is an autobiographical account from Theophilus Waldmeier, a missionary who spent many years in the Middle East, and specifically Abyssinia and Syria. The section recounting the ten years he spent in Abyssinia describes many things, such as the local geography, the religion of the Abyssinians, the language, everyday life in the mission, and the present condition of Abyssinia. Several chapters deal with his travels throughout the area, and a number of them discuss his encounters with the Druses of Lebanon, their religion, the Greek Orthodox Church, and Assad Shidak the Syrian martyr. Once in Syria, the author describes the local customs, the countryside, importance of religion, and the progress of his own mission. A number of illustrations accompany this text.

169.	The art of cockfighting : a handbook for beginners and old timers	This book is an informative guide for beginners in the sport of cocking. 'The Art of Cockfighting' includes chapters on the history of the sport, selection of a strain, breeding systems, the house, conditioning for battle, and construction and operation of the pit. Other sections discuss the tools of the trade, different sets of rules that are frequently used during cockfights, and comments on the law. Several illustrations are included with this text.

170.	The antiquities of Scotland	These books provide information on some of Scotland's most popular castles, abbeys, burial grounds, and churches. Antiquities from all areas of Scotland, such as Edinburghshire, Haddingtonshire, and Berwickshire, are described and illustrated. Several well known houses are also included in this study.

171.	The antiquities of Palmyra : containing the history of the city, and its emperors, from its foundation to the present time : with an appendix of critical observations on the names, religion, and government of the country : and a commentary on the inscriptions lately found there	This book is a history of the city of Palmyra in Syria. Chapters include information on the inhabitants, customs, religion, and government. A study of several inscriptions found at the site of Palmyra is included, with information on the writing style of the time and the importance of inscriptions in religious ceremony. It includes a section on the military history of the city, such as the rebellion of the Palmyrenians. Other parts of this text deal with important leaders of Palmyra throughout history, such as Alexander the Great, Odenathus, Velerian and Diocletion. An illustration of the ruins of Palmyra appears in the first chapter of the book.

172.	The antiquities of Ireland	These books describe architectural monuments in Ireland. Discussed within this text are abbeys, castles and churches from different counties in Ireland. Some Celtic and druidic structures are included, along with illustrations.

173.	The antiquities of England and Wales	These books discuss historical antiquities from Britain and Wales. Monuments such as castles, monasteries, and druid ruins are discussed at length. There are architectural examples and illustrations from each county in Britain. Information is included on structures from counties such as Sussex, Essex, Northumberland and Yorkshire.

174.	The Annals of sporting and fancy gazette : a magazine, entirely appropriated to sporting subjects and fancy pursuits ; containing every thing worthy of remark on hunting, shooting, coursing, racing, fishing, cocking, pugilism, wrestling, singlestick, pedestrianism, cricket, billiards, rowing, sailing, etc. ; accompanied with striking representations of various subjects	This is a thirteen volume set of the magazine devoted to sporting and recreational pursuits in Britain during the early 19th century. They include sections on sports such as hunting, fishing, shooting, racing, cocking, wrestling, cricket, bowling, rowing, and sailing. Each section contains extensive information on the topic, with letters, narratives, and poems about the featured sport. A large section is devoted to cockfighting, which was seen as a gentlemanly sporting practice in the 19th century. Fox hunting is another subject which is discussed at length. There are tips on how to keep a racing horse in good condition, recent laws involving cruelty to animals, and good places in which to go stag hunting. There are a number of cricket match results, as well as popular matchups. A number of illustrations are included throughout each of these volumes.

175.	The amusing companion, or, Interesting story teller : being a collection of moral, sentimental, and miscellaneous tales	'The Amusing Companion' is a collection of tales from the 18th century, most of which come with a moral or sentimental meaning. Stories deal with topics such as hauntings, remarkable stories about murder, real love, and the folly of discontent.

176.	The American poultry yard : comprising the origin, history, and description of the different breeds of domestic poultry	'The American Poultry Yard' contains a brief history and description of the keeping of domestic fowl. Several sections deal with breeding, as well as hatching and rearing chickens. Cross-breeding between different types of poultry is also discussed, along with descriptions of several different kinds. Common poultry diseases, as well as the methods used to treat them, are also included in this text. A number of personal observations are made by the author, several illustrations accompany the text. There is also an appendix examining the merits of different breeds of poultry, written by Samuel Allen.

177.	The American Hoyle, or, Gentleman's hand-book of games : containing all the games played in the United States, with rules, descriptions, and technicalities, adapted to the American method of playing	This book contains rules and instructions on a number of card games popular in the United States. Some examples of games included are keno, poker, all-fours, lottery, backgammon, dominoes, billiards, American blind hookey, and dice. Each of these games is explained in a section that describes the number of players, the deal, the shuffle, and the lead. Technical terms for each game are also explained.

178.	The American breeds of poultry : their origin, history of their development, the work of constructive breeders and how to mate each of the varieties for best results	This book is a discussion of the American breeds of poultry, including Plymouth Rock, Wyandottes, Rhode Island Reds, and Buckeyes. It includes discussion of the introduction of poultry to Europe, and subsequently North America, as well as information on breeding, colouring, and behaviour of prize fowl.

179.	The 'Awarifu-l-ma'arif,	This book is a discussion, translated from Persian, of the Islamic religion. Contents include being a religious leader as well as a disciple, the secrets to love, contentment, celibacy, and relationship with God, and the roles of men and women. Some information on Islamic law is also included, such as how to resolve property disputes or the need for women to remain veiled. Many of the sections in this text include descriptions both in Persian and in English.

180.	Tan teladakadidjik Apostalewidjk : the akts ov the aposelz	A translated copy of the Acts of the Apostles from the Christian Bible, this book is written entirely in the Micmac language.
